Breaking News: Pittsburgh Steelers Discontinue Affiliation with Prominent Fullback From Training Camp.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released fullback Jack Colletto from their practice squad to make room for running back La’Mical Perine, as announced by the team on Tuesday. Colletto started as the fullback during the preseason when the Steelers began utilizing more heavy formations, but they have since rotated various players, including Connor Heyward, in that position.
Colletto joined the Steelers in 2023 primarily to contribute on special teams. The Oregon State alum also has the capability to play tight end along with his fullback duties. Given that the Arthur Smith offense values having a fullback option, there’s a possibility Colletto could be re-signed in the future, even though other players are currently filling that role.
Prior to his time with the Steelers, Colletto was an undrafted free agent who signed with the San Francisco 49ers, where he spent time in training camp and on their practice squad before being let go. Additionally, the Steelers have also released outside linebacker Marcus Haynes.
