The Dallas Cowboys have signed defensive end K.J. Henry from the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad after placing DeMarcus Lawrence on injured reserve.
Lawrence suffered a Lisfranc injury in his right foot during the third quarter of last Thursday’s 20-15 win against the New York Giants. While he won’t require surgery, his recovery is expected to take four to eight weeks.
Lawrence, 32, has recorded three sacks and 14 tackles in 14 games this season. Over his career, which began when Dallas drafted him in the second round in 2014, he has totaled 61.5 sacks, 21 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, and two interceptions in 141 games.
K.J. Henry, 25, was drafted in the fifth round by Washington in 2023. As a rookie, he tallied 1.5 sacks and 19 tackles in 10 games with three starts for the Commanders.
After being waived on August 27, Henry joined the Bengals, playing 11 defensive snaps and seven on special teams over two games.
Along with Lawrence’s absence, the Cowboys (2-2) are set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) on Sunday night without star pass-rusher Micah Parsons, who is dealing with a left high-ankle sprain.
