Jose Altuve Receives $10,000 Offer for Foot Webcam Show After On-Field Incident
Houston Astros star Jose Altuve, 34, may have upset an umpire by showing his bare foot during an on-field dispute, but the incident has earned him unexpected online fans.
After removing his cleat and sock during a game against the San Diego Padres on September 17 to argue that he fouled a ball off his foot, Altuve was ejected by home plate umpire Brennan Miller. The altercation, however, led to a surprising offer from the adult platform CamSoda.
In a letter acquired by *Us Weekly*, CamSoda offered to cover any fines Altuve might face, up to $10,000, in exchange for an hour-long webcam session where he would display his feet for their audience. “Our users love nice feet, and I think a lot of people would love to see yours up close,” CamSoda’s vice president Daryn Parker wrote, adding, “After all, size doesn’t matter—you know that better than anyone.”
Altuve, who stands at 5’6″, is the shortest active player in Major League Baseball. The contentious play occurred during a pivotal moment in the ninth inning when Miller ruled Altuve’s ball fair, leading to an inning-ending forceout. Despite the controversy, the Astros went on to win the game 4-3 in extra innings.
While no fines have been issued yet, Altuve maintained his stance in the locker room, insisting the ball was foul. “It was obvious. I just wanted my at-bat against [Robert] Suarez. He’s great, but I wanted to keep fighting.”
Astros manager Joe Espada supported his All-Star player’s reaction. “I respect Jose. He’s a winner, and I’d probably take my shoes off too to prove a point,” Espada said, while also criticizing the umpire crew for missing the call. “That’s twice this year. They work hard, but you have to be able to see it.”
CamSoda has made similar offers before, including a $250,000 proposal to French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati after a viral incident during the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, Ammirati has not accepted the offer to date.
