INJURY UPDATE: Edmonton Oilers Top Left Wing to Undergo Surgery Miss Start of NHL Season…
Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane will undergo surgery and miss the start of the regular season, as confirmed by general manager Stan Bowman on Wednesday.
“He’s going to be out for a while,” Bowman said, without providing details about the surgery. “I don’t want to speculate. Our doctors can give a clearer update, but he won’t be available for some time.”
Kane will not be participating in training camp or the beginning of the season. Bowman refrained from commenting on the medical specifics but confirmed Kane’s upcoming surgery.
The 33-year-old Kane tallied 24 goals and 44 points in 77 regular-season games last year, with an additional four goals and eight points in 20 playoff appearances.
Over his career, Kane has accumulated 326 goals and 617 points in 930 regular-season games, playing for the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise, Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, and the Oilers.
