The Edmonton Oilers announced on Wednesday that they have signed forward Mike Hoffman to a professional tryout contract. Hoffman, 34, hails from Kitchener, Ontario, and recorded 10 goals and 13 assists over 66 games with the San Jose Sharks last season.
Hoffman was originally drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL draft. He spent seven seasons in Ottawa and later played for Florida, St. Louis, and Montreal.
Throughout his NHL career, Hoffman has accumulated 228 goals, 259 assists, and 267 penalty minutes in 745 games. In playoff action, he has contributed 11 goals and nine assists in 33 appearances.
