Gagner played for the Edmonton Oilers during the 2023-24 season, recording five goals and five assists in 28 games. His last goal came on January 20 against the Calgary Flames. Drafted by the Oilers sixth overall in the 2007 NHL Draft, Gagner had a standout junior year with the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he accumulated 35 goals and 83 assists, totaling 118 points. As an 18-year-old rookie with the Oilers, he registered 49 points, including 13 goals and 36 assists.

Between 2014 and 2018, Gagner played for the Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Vancouver Canucks. His best season came with the Blue Jackets in 2016-17, when he scored 18 goals and 50 points. Over 1,043 NHL regular-season games, Gagner has amassed 529 points, consisting of 197 goals and 332 assists. In the playoffs, he has recorded four assists in 11 games.

Grimaldi spent the 2023-24 season with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, where he posted 36 goals and 37 assists for 73 points in 72 games, ranking second in the league. The 31-year-old last played in the NHL during the 2021-22 season with the Nashville Predators, contributing three assists in seven games. Over his career, the 5-foot-6 forward has appeared in 203 NHL games, collecting 30 goals and 37 assists while playing for the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, and Nashville.

Skyler Brind’Amour, son of Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour, played for the Charlotte Checkers, the Hurricanes’ AHL affiliate, during the 2023-24 season, tallying eight points in 54 games. He was selected 177th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017 NHL Draft.
