One Piece Confirms Imu’s True Form Is More Terrifying Than Fans Imagined…
The latest episode of One Piece has finally shown the moment fans have been eagerly anticipating—revealing Imu and the Five Elders’ monstrous transformations, resolving the long-standing debate about Imu’s true form. In this episode, the climactic confrontation between King Cobra, Imu, and the Five Elders is depicted, and the anime puts an end to the speculations surrounding the scene.
In episode #1119, Imu’s real form is finally revealed, confirming that the large figure seen atop the stairs leading to the throne in chapter #1085 is indeed Imu. As seen in the manga, this monstrous silhouette has large hands, a tail ending in an arrow-like point, and a large mouth with sharp teeth.
Although the manga left readers uncertain about whether this shadowy figure belonged to Imu or one of the Five Elders until later in the Egghead Arc, the latest anime episode confirms it is indeed Imu who transforms into the sixth silhouette in the throne room. However, Imu’s exact appearance remains unclear, as the recent episodes have raised even more questions due to Imu’s distinct voice.
One Piece Finally Settles the Confusion Over Imu’s Transformation
While the anime has sometimes clarified elements better than the manga, this particular debate sparked a lot of fan discussions, which were only recently put to rest by the manga after the Five Elders revealed their true forms during the Egghead Arc.
The confusion arose because the silhouettes in chapter #1085 blended together, making it difficult to differentiate between them. The anime addressed this by giving each shadow a red glow, but in the manga, it was challenging to tell them apart. The panel where Sabo stands over King Cobra, in particular, was misleading, as it seemed there were only four shadows, with the one atop the throne being the fifth.
Episode #1119 clears up this confusion, confirming that Imu also has a terrifying transformation, similar to the Five Elders.
The worm-like form of Saint Ju Peter and Imu’s transformation were almost identical, making it hard to distinguish between the two. Some fans even believed that the silhouette on the throne belonged to one of the Five Elders, despite it being implausible for them to move across the room so quickly. Fortunately, the episode confirms that Imu also has a fearsome transformation, comparable to the Five Elders.
Speculation on Imu’s True Form
There are numerous theories about Imu’s true identity in *One Piece*. A popular one is that Imu could be an umibozu, a sea demon from Japanese folklore, and Imu’s silhouette in episode #1119 seems to support this theory. The silhouette bears a striking resemblance to an umibozu, and it would make sense for Imu’s form to be modeled after a yokai, much like the Five Elders.
However, creator Eiichiro Oda is clearly saving Imu’s full reveal for a grand moment, leaving fans to speculate on what Imu’s real form could be. Regardless, the latest episodes have effectively established Imu as a terrifying and enigmatic presence, setting them up as the final antagonist of the series.
