The Atlanta Braves have released their lineup for the series opener against the Cincinnati Reds tonight. While there aren’t many significant changes from the previous game, there are a few adjustments worth noting. After all, who doesn’t enjoy discussing lineups?
The top five spots remain the same as they were in the final game against the Dodgers. The catcher’s position in the sixth spot also remains, but instead of Sean Murphy, Travis d’Arnaud will be behind the plate.
This marks his third start since returning from paternity leave, showing he’s back in the regular rotation.
In the bottom of the lineup, there’s been a slight tweak with Whit Merrifield swapping spots with Orlando Arcia. The change could be due to the Reds starting a left-handed pitcher, or perhaps it’s just manager Brian Snitker following his instincts.
Either way, fans are hoping the productive version of this lineup will show up, rather than the one that struggles to generate runs.
This lineup helped Cincinnati secure a series win over the Twins, including two high-scoring games where they posted eight and 11 runs.
Their offensive peak this month came on September 4 against the Astros. However, their momentum was halted on Sunday, and Braves fans are hoping their cold streak continues tonight.
The game starts at 6:40 PM ET and will be broadcast on Bally Sports South. Fans can also listen via 680 The Fan/93.7 or the Braves radio app, no matter their location.
