Harper’s Two Homers and Stevenson’s Heroics Lift Phillies to 6-4 Victory Over Mets…

Bryce Harper and Cal Stevenson helped the Philadelphia Phillies secure a 6-4 comeback win against the New York Mets. Harper hit two home runs, while Stevenson contributed a key two-run double in the seventh inning and made a spectacular catch in the eighth. The Phillies, leading the NL East, have now won 10 of their last 13 games, and they sit eight games ahead of the Mets.

J.T. Realmuto also added an RBI double for the Phillies, who will wrap up their three-game series against the Mets on Sunday. The two teams are set to meet again for a four-game series from September 19-22.

Starling Marte had a strong game for the Mets with a single, a triple, and three RBIs, while Luisangel Acuña, making his MLB debut, had two singles. The Mets, who had won 12 of their last 14 games, are now tied with the Braves for the final NL wild-card spot.

Harper’s first home run came in the fourth inning off Mets starter Luis Severino, followed by a two-run shot in the sixth that brought the Phillies within one run. Harper, who hadn’t homered since August 9, now has 28 home runs this season.

The Phillies took the lead in the seventh after Stevenson’s double drove in two runs. Pitching highlights included Jeff Hoffman’s scoreless eighth and Carlos Estévez securing his 26th save in the ninth, aided by Stevenson’s leaping catch to rob J.D. Martinez of a home run.

Taijuan Walker threw three solid innings in relief for Philadelphia, while New York’s Marte continued his dominance against the Phillies, and Acuña collected his first MLB hit in the loss.
