Oilers Strengthen Hockey Operations with Three New Key Hires…
The Edmonton Oilers have recently bolstered their hockey operations department with three new hires: Tobias Salmelainen, Andreas Karlsson, and Vincent Malts. These additions come amidst other significant moves by the team, including bringing in Viktor Arvidsson, Jeff Skinner, Vasily Podkolzin, Ty Emberson, and Travis Dermott.
Salmelainen will focus on Player Acquisition and Development in Europe from his base in Helsinki, leveraging his extensive experience as a player, executive, and general manager in Finland. Karlsson, who has a notable NHL background with the Atlanta Thrashers and Tampa Bay Lightning, will serve as a Player Development Coach. He brings 19 years of professional hockey experience, including a gold medal from the 2006 IIHF World Championships with Sweden. Malts, with his diverse background as a player, scout, and coach, will take on the role of Mental Performance and Player Development Coach.
General Manager Stan Bowman emphasized the importance of these new roles for the team’s future success, highlighting that investment in player development is crucial for long-term progress.
