Carolina Hurricanes Announce 10-Year Arena Naming Rights Agreement With a Top Tech Company…

Brian Fork, CEO of Hurricanes Holdings, LLC, announced that the Centennial Authority has given the green light for Lenovo to acquire the naming rights for the Carolina Hurricanes’ arena.

Starting in September, the arena will be known as “Lenovo Center.” This agreement, spanning a decade, will last through the 2033-34 NHL season.

Lenovo has been a trusted partner for years,” Fork commented. “We’re excited to deepen that relationship by renaming the arena Lenovo Center.

With its strong local presence and global reach, Lenovo represents a leader in technology. We appreciate PNC’s continued major role in our organization as we enter this new chapter.”

Philip Isley, Chairman of the Centennial Authority, remarked, “Today is a significant milestone for Raleigh, Wake County, and North Carolina.

This partnership goes beyond a name change. Lenovo will be integral in integrating technology into our arena’s upcoming renovations. Their deep North Carolina roots make this agreement even more special.”

Ryan McCurdy, Senior VP and President of Lenovo North America, stated, “Lenovo has been part of North Carolina for nearly 20 years.

We take pride in our role in the Triangle community and are thrilled to enhance our partnership with this renowned sports organization. The Lenovo Center will continue to be a leading venue for sports and entertainment.”

Lenovo, a Fortune Global 500 company, has been based in North Carolina since 2005, with one of its global headquarters in Morrisville.

The company has a significant economic impact on the state, estimated at $1.5 billion annually. Lenovo also contributes to the community through philanthropy, employee volunteer work, and engagement.

Since 2010, Lenovo has been associated with the Carolina Hurricanes, initially as a helmet decal sponsor.

The expanded partnership will see Lenovo as the official technology partner, with its tech integrated throughout the arena to enhance the fan experience.

Originally known as the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena when it opened in 1999, the venue became the RBC Center in 2002 before being renamed PNC Arena in 2012 after PNC Bank’s acquisition of RBC. It serves as the home for the Carolina Hurricanes and NC State University men’s basketball and hosts around 1.5 million visitors and 150 events annually, including major concerts and family shows.

The arena is owned by the Centennial Authority and managed by Gale Force Sports & Entertainment, a subsidiary of Hurricanes Holdings.

A press conference and public unveiling of the Lenovo Center signage are set for September 19, 2024.
