LeBron James Eyes Major Milestones in the 2024-25 NBA Season…

LeBron James is poised to reach three major statistical milestones during the 2024-25 NBA season, following his historic achievement of becoming the first player to surpass 40,000 regular-season points.

50,000 Total Points

James is just 1,364 points away from reaching a combined total of 50,000 career points (including playoffs). He enters the season with 48,636 points (40,474 in the regular season and 8,162 in the playoffs). If he maintains his 25.7 points-per-game average from last season, he will hit the 50,000-point mark in about 53 games.

All-Time Minutes Leader

Having already overtaken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time scoring record, LeBron is close to surpassing another of Abdul-Jabbar’s records—most minutes played. James has logged 56,597 minutes, needing just 850 more to surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s 57,446 minutes. If he averages 35.3 minutes per game as he did last season, he could break the record by early December, possibly on Dec. 8 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Most 30-Point Games in NBA History

James is also approaching Michael Jordan’s record for most 30-point games. Currently, James has 554 such games, just nine shy of Jordan’s 562. Considering he scored 30 or more points 22 times last season, it’s likely that James will surpass Jordan during the 2024-25 season.

In addition to these milestones, James will also make history by becoming the first NBA player to compete as both a teenager and a 40-year-old, having joined the league at 18 in 2003 and turning 40 on December 30. He is also set to tie Vince Carter for most seasons played in the NBA with 22.

Looking further ahead, James could surpass Robert Parish’s record for most regular-season games played. Parish played in 1,611 games, and James, with 1,492 games under his belt, needs to appear in 69 games this season to move into second place behind Parish.

The Lakers kick off their season against the Timberwolves on October 22.
