Two Toronto Blue Jays prospects have earned Player of the Month honors…
The minor league affiliates are nearing the end of their season, with High-A Vancouver being the only team to make the playoffs.
Vancouver lost their first playoff game 4-3, with the second game tonight, and potential third, fourth, and fifth games scheduled through Sunday.
In August, the four affiliates combined for a 48-61 record, with a total run deficit of 553-528. Triple-A Buffalo went 10-18, while Double-A New Hampshire finished 10-17. High-A Vancouver performed better, going 15-12, while Single-A Dunedin posted a 13-14 record.
The Blue Jays honored two standout prospects. Outfielder Alan Roden, playing for Triple-A Buffalo, was named International League Hitter of the Month after hitting .354 with a 1.005 OPS, including seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 16 RBIs.
Shortstop Arjun Nimmala was named Hitter of the Month in the Florida State League for Dunedin, posting a .296 average with an .871 OPS, along with five home runs, 17 RBIs, and seven doubles.
Alan Roden
Drafted in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft from Creighton, Roden has steadily progressed through the minors. In his first season at Dunedin, he hit .233 over 25 games.
Last season, between Vancouver and New Hampshire, he hit .317 over 115 games. In 2024, between New Hampshire and Buffalo, he’s batting .290 with a .849 OPS in 117 games.
Arjun Nimmala
Selected 20th overall in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Strawberry Crest High School in Florida, Nimmala had a brief stint in the rookie league before joining Dunedin this season. Across 90 games, he’s hitting .232 with an impressive .807 OPS, collecting 20 doubles, 17 home runs, and 47 RBIs.
