The Miami Hurricanes’ defense made big plays in their 56-9 victory over Florida A&M. Freshman defensive lineman Justin Scott, a highly touted recruit, recorded his first career sack early in the game. Scott was one of several defensive players who made impactful plays, with 27 Hurricanes contributing at least one tackle. The defense held FAMU to just 190 yards and three field goals, dominating the game by keeping the Rattlers out of the end zone and limiting them to just 52 rushing yards.
Linebackers Wesley Bissainthe, Adarius Hayes, and Cam Pruitt each had interceptions, with Bissainthe’s coming just four plays into the game, setting up an early Miami touchdown. Tyler Baron led the defense with three sacks, and several freshmen, including Scott, Hayes, and Pruitt, made significant contributions.
Head coach Mario Cristobal praised the team’s relentless pressure on the quarterback and the strong performance of the younger players, particularly on the defensive line. Scott acknowledged the guidance he’s receiving from Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, his coach, and the veteran players around him, as he continues to develop his game.
