A sign company has offered to replace a stolen Aaron Judge plaque after it was reported missing at Globe Life Field, where the Yankees were playing the Texas Rangers on September 2.
The plaque marked the spot where Judge hit his record-breaking 62nd home run in 2022. Rangers officials informed New York radio broadcaster Justin Shackil that the plaque had been stolen for a second time and would not be replaced again.
However, Custom Sign Crafters, based in Chicago, responded to Shackil’s viral post, offering to replace the plaque with a version that would be nearly impossible to steal. The company claimed that their installation methods would make the plaque theft-proof, even joking that it could withstand a cruise missile.
Shackil shared this offer during the Yankees’ 8-4 victory over the Rangers, passing the message along to Rangers personnel.
In other news, Aaron Judge, despite a recent seven-game homer drought, is having an outstanding 2024 season at age 32. He leads the majors with 51 home runs and has improved in nearly every other offensive category compared to his 2022 season. Judge is batting .326, has drawn 112 walks, and boasts an on-base percentage of .459. His 1.170 OPS and 222 OPS+ are career highs, and he has already accumulated 9.6 bWAR, close to surpassing his 2022 total.
The Yankees have also made Judge’s job easier by strengthening their lineup. With players like Gleyber Torres, Austin Wells, and Giancarlo Stanton performing well, Judge often comes to the plate with runners on base, making it harder for pitchers to avoid him. This improved lineup has given the Yankees’ captain more opportunities to contribute to the team’s success.
