Saints and Panthers Emerge as Top Contenders for Davante Adams in Potential Trade…
The New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers are emerging as leading contenders to acquire superstar receiver Davante Adams in a potential trade this season. According to Bleacher Report, the Raiders may consider trading Adams if their season doesn’t go as planned.
Although the NFL trade deadline is still some time away, the possibility of Adams switching teams midseason is high. Despite his agent dismissing the rumors as “baseless speculation,” the buzz around a possible trade persists.
Adams’ frustration with the Raiders’ quarterback situation has been evident, especially after playing alongside Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, Aidan O’Connell, and now potentially Gardner Minshew.
His dissatisfaction was also highlighted in Netflix’s “Receiver” show, making it plausible that he might seek a change if the Raiders continue to struggle. With two years left on his contract, the Raiders could save $17.5 million by trading him, making a deal more likely if their season goes downhill.
The Saints might appeal to Adams due to his previous chemistry with Carr, who now plays for New Orleans. Adding Adams to the roster would significantly boost the Saints’ offense, which currently relies heavily on Chris Olave.
On the other hand, the Panthers have been bolstering their lineup to support Bryce Young, recently acquiring Diontae Johnson and drafting Xavier Legette.
With Adam Thielen aging, securing Adams could provide the Panthers with the firepower needed to make an early Super Bowl run.
Other Potential Trade Destinations
Kansas City Chiefs
A potential trade to the Chiefs could see Adams paired with Patrick Mahomes, arguably the best quarterback in the league. Despite the unlikelihood of the Raiders trading Adams within their division, the Chiefs might consider a blockbuster deal, especially after losing Kadarius Toney. Adding Adams to the mix would give Mahomes another elite weapon, enhancing their chances of contending for another Super Bowl.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens could also be in the mix if they experience struggles this season. While Lamar Jackson keeps the Ravens’ offense dynamic, adding a versatile player like Adams could elevate them to the Chiefs’ level. Despite having strong players like Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Mark Andrews, and Isaiah Likely, bringing Adams onboard would add a lethal edge to Baltimore’s passing attack.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers have been working on building a stronger team around Justin Herbert, especially after hiring Jim Harbaugh to revamp the coaching staff.
However, after parting ways with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, they’ve struggled to find solid replacements.
Rookie Ladd McConkey shows promise, but the current roster may not be enough to transform the team into championship contenders. If the Chargers’ current lineup falls short, Adams could be the game-changer they need to take their offense to the next level.
