The Miami Hurricanes football program has work to do before the September 21st commitment announcement of four-star American Heritage running back Byron Louis. Currently, Florida State is the frontrunner for his commitment, according to 247Sports and On3.
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Florida State a 91.7% chance of landing Louis, with Noles247 writer Zach Blostein being the only one to submit a 247Sports crystal ball prediction for him. Miami’s chances of securing Louis are slim, at just 3.6%, while Georgia holds a 1.7% chance, according to On3.
Wisconsin is also in the mix, but with less than a 3% chance. Louis made official visits to Miami, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida State in June, in that order. He’s visited Miami the most, with nine total visits, followed by Florida State and Georgia, each with four.
In his junior year in 2023, Louis rushed for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. Over his high school career, he has amassed 1,849 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, including 11 as a sophomore in 2024. Miami sophomore RB Mark Fletcher, who also came from American Heritage, preceded Louis.
Four-star Seffner, Armwood prospect Girard Pringle Jr. is currently the only running back committed to Miami for the 2025 class. Miami might only sign one RB in this class, as all of their current running backs have eligibility remaining beyond 2024, with four of them having at least three more years.
Miami’s starting cornerbacks, Damari Brown and Darryl Porter, are also American Heritage alumni. The Hurricanes’ 2025 class is currently ranked 10th in the 247Sports composite rankings. Adding Louis would be a significant boost, but Miami is still on track to secure a strong group of signees.
