DJ Burns Ready to Energize the Crowd at NC State Football Opener…
NC State basketball standout DJ Burns is set to boost the energy at Carter-Finley Stadium as the Wolfpack football team kicks off the 12th season under coach Dave Doeren.
On Thursday night, as NC State begins its season, fans at Carter-Finley will not only see the beloved former Wolfpack basketball star but also hear him.
Burns, who stands 6-foot-9 and weighs 260 pounds, didn’t make it to the NBA Draft after two seasons in Raleigh but showcased his skills with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the Las Vegas Summer League in July.

As the designated Alpha Wolf Starter for NC State’s game against Western Carolina, Burns will take the microphone, rallying the crowd as the official hype man.
Burns’ impact on the court was crucial in Kevin Keatts’ seventh NC State basketball team achieving what hadn’t been done since the 1980s: reaching the top of the ladder at the ACC Tournament and advancing to the Final Four.
The Wolfpack will face off against the Catamounts at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday (ACC Network).
