New Titans Safety Jamal Adams Embraces Fresh Perspective
Jamal Adams, now a member of the Tennessee Titans, finds himself among new teammates and carrying a rejuvenated outlook on life after enduring two challenging seasons.
“It’s been tough,” Adams admitted on Wednesday. “I’ve come to understand that while you can love the game, it won’t always love you back. I’ve learned to stay grounded and maintain a close circle of support. I experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows. Now, I’m climbing my way back to the top.”
Adams, who joined the Titans earlier this month, participated in his first practice with the team on Wednesday. Wearing No.33, the seasoned safety showcased his skills by recovering a fumble and quickly reaching the quarterback on a blitz, which would have resulted in a sack during a game.
“It felt great,” Adams said about his first practice. “Running around with my new teammates was fantastic.”
When asked what it would take for him to return to his Pro Bowl form after playing just one game in 2022 and nine games in 2023, Adams pointed to the sky.
“The man above – all I can do is put my faith in Him, work hard, and be a good teammate,” Adams said. “I’m going to give it my all out here.”
Adams, a first-round pick (sixth overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft, has played 80 games over seven NFL seasons. He has accumulated 494 tackles, 21.5 sacks, four interceptions, and 36 passes defensed with the Jets and Seahawks.
Adams began his NFL career with the Jets, playing three seasons before being traded to the Seahawks in 2020. His 2023 season was limited to nine games due to a concussion, and his 2022 season was cut short by a severe leg injury that left him contemplating retirement.
“I love the game,” said Adams, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro. “I wasn’t healthy the last two years, but I’m finding my stride again.”
