Vancouver Canucks Sign Daniel Sprong to 1-Year Deal
The Vancouver Canucks have inked forward Daniel Sprong to a one-year contract. The team revealed the signing on Saturday but did not disclose the contract’s value.
Last season, Sprong scored 18 goals and contributed 25 assists over 76 games for the Detroit Red Wings.
The 27-year-old Dutch player has accumulated 159 points (85 goals, 74 assists) in his 344-game NHL career, having played for Detroit, Seattle, Washington, Anaheim, and Pittsburgh. Sprong was selected by the Penguins in the second round, 46th overall, of the 2015 NHL draft.
Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin commented on Sprong’s signing, highlighting the winger’s ability to add depth to the team. “Bringing in another solid winger will be a boost for our club this season,” Allvin said. “Daniel has matured a lot as a player and has shown he can contribute offensively when called upon. His addition up front will give us better depth and should help with more balanced scoring throughout our forward group.”
