Rangers Extend Matthew Robertson’s Contract
New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced that the team has extended defenseman Matthew Robertson’s contract for another year.
In the 2023-24 season, Robertson, 23, played 68 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL, where he scored four goals and made 17 assists, totaling 21 points. Among the Wolf Pack defensemen, he was second in games played, third in both assists and points, tied for third in goals, and led in shots on goal with 131.
Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Robertson has spent three seasons with Hartford, amassing 55 points (10 goals, 45 assists) over 190 games. He has also contributed one assist in 10 Calder Cup Playoff games. The 6-foot-4, 209-pound defenseman set AHL career highs with five goals, 18 assists, and 23 points during the 2022-23 regular season.
Robertson was drafted by the Rangers in the second round, 49th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.
