NEWS RELEASE: Oilers Trade for Matt Savoie
The Edmonton Oilers have traded Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward Matt Savoie.
Savoie, a 20-year-old forward from St. Albert, was the Sabres’ ninth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut with Buffalo in November and played six games for their AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, recording two goals and three assists.
During his time in the WHL, Savoie played 283 games with the Winnipeg Ice, Wenatchee Wild, and Moose Jaw Warriors, amassing 103 goals, 160 assists, and an impressive plus/minus rating of +129.
