Vikings Rookie Khyree Jackson, 24, Dies in Maryland Car Accident

Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson, 24, was one of three men who died in a multi-vehicle car crash early Saturday in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Jackson, a cornerback selected by the Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL draft this spring, was in the front passenger seat of a Dodge Charger driven by Isaiah Hazel, 23, who also died at the scene. Anthony Lytton, Jr., 24, the third victim, died at a hospital.

The Maryland State Police reported that the crash occurred when another vehicle attempted to change lanes and struck the Charger, causing it to veer off the road and hit tree trunks. The three men had been teammates on a state high school championship team in Upper Marlboro, according to a social media post.

The Minnesota Vikings expressed their grief in a statement, saying they are “devastated” by the news. They have offered support to Jackson’s family and counseling to the team.

Head Coach Kevin O’Connell shared his sorrow, highlighting Jackson’s infectious energy, confidence, and potential both on and off the field. Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah described Jackson’s journey as one of resilience and expressed heartbreak over the loss of such a promising young player.

Owners Mark and Zygi Wilf also mourned Jackson’s death, recognizing his bright future and dedication to making a positive impact. The entire Vikings organization extends their condolences to Jackson’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches.
