Florida Panthers and All-Star Sam Reinhart Agree to 8-Year, $69 Million Contract

The Florida Panthers, the reigning Stanley Cup champions, have secured their All-Star forward Sam Reinhart with a long-term contract extension. Reinhart, who was nearing unrestricted free agency, has signed an eight-year, $69 million deal with the Panthers.

Reinhart, who joined the Panthers through a trade with the Buffalo Sabres before the 2021-22 season, quickly became a key player for the team. His significance was especially evident during the Panthers’ recent championship season.

In the 2023-24 season, Reinhart played all 82 games, achieving a career-high with 57 goals and 37 assists, totaling 94 points. He also contributed 16 points (10 goals and six assists) in the playoffs and scored the game-winning goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers, securing the Panthers’ first-ever championship.

“Since arriving in South Florida, Sam has proven to be a formidable scoring threat with strong defensive skills,” said Panthers’ President of Hockey Operations Bill Zito. “His versatility and value on the ice are matched by his outstanding personality and work ethic, and we are thrilled to have him continue with our team.”
