 Capobianco, Lind, and Hughes Sign with Dallas Stars

On Monday, the Dallas Stars made several notable moves, including the signing of defenseman Kyle Capobianco and forwards Kole Lind and Cameron Hughes, as announced by general manager Jim Nill.

Capobianco signed a two-year, $1.5 million contract, which will be a two-way deal in 2024-25 and a one-way deal in 2025-26, with an average annual value of $775,000. Lind and Hughes signed one-year, two-way contracts, each with a $775,000 cap hit.

Last season, Capobianco led all American Hockey League defensemen in scoring, accumulating 54 points (12 goals, 42 assists) in 69 games with the Manitoba Moose. The 26-year-old has played 73 NHL games over six seasons with the Arizona Coyotes and Winnipeg Jets, recording 12 points (five goals, seven assists). He was drafted by Arizona in the third round (No. 63) of the 2015 NHL Draft.

 

Lind appeared in one NHL game for the Seattle Kraken in 2023-24, recording two hits. He spent most of the season with the Coachella Valley Firebirds in the AHL, where he led the team with 65 points (17 goals, 48 assists) and added 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 18 playoff games, helping the Firebirds reach the Calder Cup Final for the second consecutive season. Lind was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the second round (No. 33) of the 2017 NHL Draft and has eight points (two goals, six assists) in 37 career NHL games.

Hughes, an AHL defenseman with two NHL games under his belt, has zero points in his NHL appearances with the Boston Bruins. In the AHL, Hughes has amassed 226 points (82 goals, 144 assists) in 324 career games with Coachella Valley and the Providence Bruins. In the 2023-24 season, he recorded 57 points (25 goals, 32 assists) in 69 regular-season games and added 16 assists in 18 Calder Cup Playoff games for Coachella Valley. Hughes was drafted by Boston in the sixth round (No. 165) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
