Conflicting Reports on Sasha Vezenkov’s Future

Sasha Vezenkov has a new NBA home after being traded from the Kings to the Raptors. Despite this move, rumors about his future persist.

Alessandro Maggi of Sportando reported that Vezenkov is likely to return to the EuroLeague, possibly signing a four-year deal with his former team, Olympiacos, in Greece. However, Toronto-based reporter Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca countered this claim, stating that the Raptors plan to keep Vezenkov and his $6.66 million salary for the 2024/25 season, expecting him to attend training camp this fall.

This is not the first time there have been conflicting reports about Vezenkov’s plans. In June, an Italian reporter said that Vezenkov was informed he was not in Sacramento’s future plans, prompting a trade. At the same time, Eurohoops reported that Vezenkov himself had expressed uncertainty about continuing in the NBA or returning to Europe.

A subsequent report clarified that Vezenkov intended to fulfill his NBA contract, and his agent emphasized that staying in the NBA was the priority, although there was interest from Panathinaikos and Olympiacos.

Given the Raptors’ interest in bringing Vezenkov to camp, it seems probable he will stay in the NBA, though his situation remains one to watch as the offseason unfolds.
