The Toronto Raptors have traded for guard Davion Mitchell and forward Sasha Vezenkov from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for forward Jalen McDaniels, as reported by ESPN and The Athletic.
In addition to Mitchell and Vezenkov, Toronto acquired the No. 45 overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft from Sacramento, according to ESPN.
Mitchell, 25, was drafted ninth overall by the Kings in 2021 and spent his first three NBA seasons with the team. After a strong rookie season averaging 11.5 points and 4.2 assists per game, his playing time and production declined. Over his career, Mitchell has averaged 7.4 points and 2.8 assists per game in 227 appearances (32 starts).
Vezenkov, 28, made his NBA debut for the Kings last season, posting averages of 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while playing 12.2 minutes per game over 42 appearances off the bench.
McDaniels, 26, is set to join his fourth NBA team in less than two years. After playing for the Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers during the 2022-23 season, McDaniels signed a two-year deal with the Raptors for the 2023-24 season.
With Toronto, McDaniels averaged career lows of 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game in 50 games (one start). Throughout his career, which includes stints with Charlotte (2019-23), Philadelphia (2023), and Toronto (2023-24), he has averaged 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in 248 appearances (45 starts).
