Buccaneers pass-rusher Yaya Diaby recently praised quarterback Baker Mayfield’s impact on the team since joining in March 2023. Diaby described Mayfield as a fantastic leader whose energy positively affects everyone, according to JoeBucsFan. Many see Mayfield as a fitting successor to Tom Brady, who retired in February 2023. Diaby, a 2023 third-round pick, wasn’t with the team during Brady’s tenure but is excited about Mayfield’s leadership, especially given his past collaboration with Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator, Liam Coen. Despite some concerns about Mayfield’s potential decline after former coordinator Dave Canales left, Diaby remains optimistic about the team’s direction. NFL Network’s Gerald McCoy noted Mayfield’s improved health going into training camp. Mayfield, a Comeback Player of the Year finalist, secured his position as starting quarterback with a new contract in March. DraftKings Sportsbook currently gives the Buccaneers +145 odds to make the playoffs, and the team’s performance will be closely watched as training camp approaches.
